Roman Kostrzewski died today at the age of 61. The vocalist of the legendary metal group KAT lost his battle with cancer. The band announced his death on their official Facebook page:
Roman Kostrzewski (born in 1960) went down in the history of Polish rock and metal music as one of its most prominent figures. Often called the “godfather of Polish metal” he started his career with Kat in 1981. In 2004 he left the band and formed a new one: Kat & Roman Kostrzewski. He recorded numerous records with both his bands and a few solo projects.
He died on the 35th anniversary of Metallica’s first concert in Poland, which Kostrzewski & Kat supported.
